On Sunday, April 15, 2018, we appointed and commissioned 6 deacons to faithfully serve the body and assist the elders so that the mission of Jesus continues to advance through the Northlake congregation of Exodus Church.
The new deacons are:
Kristen Halsted, who serves as the Administrative Assistant. She loves spending time with her husband Clint and three daughters Sophie, Ella, and Kate. They are all looking forward to the arrival of another baby girl in May 2018! Kristen also enjoys homeschooling her girls, music, writing, exploring antique shops, sharing a cup of coffee with a good friend, and encouraging women in their life journeys. She is grateful for God’s saving grace and redemption!
Lauren Helton, who serves as the Postpartum Support Team Coordinator. She feels incredibly blessed to get to be married to her best friend, Joe. They have two sweet kids, Emma and Maddox, who keep them on their toes and keep them continually seeking Jesus! She enjoys being with my family, watching movies, reading novels, game nights, anything chocolate, and being in God’s beautiful creation (when it’s not too hot – so half the year)! Her passion for postpartum support and PPD ministry stems from her own personal struggles with PPD and a lifelong battle with depression. Understanding this horrible illness has given her a great desire to reach out to others who are suffering through it with the love of Jesus.
Anthony Nugnes, who serves as the A/V Team Coordinator. He enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Kira, son Luca, walking on the beach, BBQing with friends and enjoying the outdoors.
Andrew and Emily Rodgers, who serve as the Exodus Kids Coordinators. They just got married in January 2018! They are enjoying their new lives as a married couple seeking to pursue God’s mission together. Andrew enjoys music, watching sports, and spending time with friends. Emily enjoys delicious food, reading, and being creative. They both enjoy playing tennis together and having friends over for dinner. They are thrilled to be leading the kid’s ministry and hope to have their own kids someday!
David Wicker, who serves as the Set-up/Tear Down Coordinator. He is married to Brittany and has three children, William, Owen, and Scarlett. David loves Nick Saban defenses, San Francisco Giants baseball, and the Memphis Tigers. He enjoys making good BBQ and spending time with family.
Please thank these new deacons and encourage them often. You can do this very practically by praying regularly for them and serving alongside of them whenever they reach out for help. At Exodus we believe the Bible teaches we are all a family in Christ and that everyone has a role to play in the mission we have been given. We are grateful for the ways God has gifted these new deacons to serve this local body of believers. And we are grateful for their continued obedience to serve Him and His people in these roles as the mission of God continues to advance through Exodus Church. All glory to God!
