Last Sunday, June 9th, we got to welcome our newest pastor and staff member to the Northlake congregation of Exodus Church. He will be serving as our “Pastor of Community and Mission” and I could not be more excited to have him as a part of the team. He and his family are an incredible gift of God’s grace to our church family. I am abundantly hopeful for all the ways God is going to use them in our lives as we seek to continue to live faithfully as sent ones in this world. Please join me in welcoming the Wagoner’s (Stephen, Brooke, Eli, Noah, Kanaan, and Madeline) to the family here at Exodus. Take a minute and read this brief introduction from pastor Stephen below:
“What a privilege it is to obey God and serve under his Lordship. My family and I are thrilled that God is allowing us to unite with the Northlake body of Exodus Church. We are most excited because we believe, over the years, a strong foundation has been laid. God has placed the church in a prime position to build and multiply. At 19, when the Lord called me to follow him, I knew that until I take my last breath I would be about making His name known among the nations. Around that same time, God introduced me to my lifetime ministry partner, best friend, and wife, Brooke. She and I have been enjoying God and serving others together for over 15 years. It was early in college and foundational ministry that my passion for the church, the bride of Christ, began to form. God has created me as an enthusiastic leader that helps people discern and fulfill God’s unique calling on their lives. During my church planting years God showed me the massive importance of each individual member. When every gift is being used and each calling is being realized, the body is built up and we, together, are made into mature followers of Christ.
One of the responsibilities of elders in the church is the call to equip for advancing. This call is exhilarating for me! I believe God is letting me join the Exodus family in order to be included in helping develop leaders that will multiply grace and truth into others. It’s extremely joyful and fruitful to work on healthy teams and to create and maintain glorifying structures on which the mission can continue to expand. Because healthy churches are able to advance and reproduce, God has instilled in me a hunger to equip saints and send them to the nations. I envision Exodus being a humble force in multiplying disciple makers all around the world. We will continue to send while also maintaining a healthy disciple making body from which we launch. Because the nations are coming to our north Charlotte neighborhoods, we will continue to join the great commission by living as missionaries together in our community groups.
I exhort the Northlake body of Exodus Church, your work is not in vain. You are running the race well. The Wagoner family is excited to run with you into the bright future God has for us.”
